DANIEL ROMANO
If I’ve Only One Time Askin’
(New West Records)
A swirling flourish of strings whirls around a noir cocktail of stately country elegance of
classic piano and brass flourishes, as a voice emerges from the stale smoke and dim lights
equally trenchant resolve and raw ache. Daniel Romano, slightly behind the beat, offers a chivalrous promise of avengement to the man who broke a tender heart on “I’m Gonna Teach You.”

Now approaching a decade as a band, it has been a truly interesting journey for Patrick Watson and his cohorts. Having accomplished such feats as playing to over 100,000 people at the 2009 Montreal Jazz Festival, composing 15 scores for film and television, receiving Canada’s elite Polaris Music Prize in 2007, and most recently performing two songs in Wim Wenders’s current 3D epic “Every Thing Will Be Fine”, his career has had many peaks, with more to come with the release of his forthcoming album, Love Songs For Robots.

Afie Jurvanen isn’t from the Bahamas. He’s a Finnish-Canadian from Barrie–a working class town in rural Ontario. But his chosen epithet is fitting. Since 2009 he’s been making music under the name Bahamas–writing songs about sunsets, love affairs, and making out with crooked smiles. Through simple arrangements, he charts an escape route from the snow belt to the coral reefs. His new album, Bahamas Is Afie, will be released August 19, 2014 on Brushfire Records/Universal.

Tooth Blackner is pleased to present Whitehorse w/ guests at the Jack Singer Concert Hall – April 16th, 2015 Whitehorse announces a new album, Leave No Bridge Unburned, with “Sweet Disaster,” a song that channels Bond themes and Sixties R&B with a slinky, stylized video to match. “Sweet Disaster” is a story about one rich man’s quest to send a couple to Mars. It’s fitting subject matter for Melissa McClelland’s first ever love song to Luke Doucet, and for a band described thus far as “space cowboy lovebirds” (Now Magazine, Toronto).
