Crystal Castles

Event Info
Event Date/Time:
Sunday, October 28, 2012 - 8:00pm
Location:
MacEwan Hall
All Ages

Fusing low-res electronic noise and pop hooks so effortlessly that it can seem accidental, Crystal Castles began as producer/multi-instrumentalist Ethan Kath's solo project in late 2003. Kath got the moniker from the name of She-Ra's dwelling in the He-Man and Masters of the Universe cartoon series; it's also the name of a 1983 Atari video game, which is oddly appropriate, considering that one component of the band's distinctive sound comes from a keyboard modified with an Atari 5200 sound chip.

He is a man who can break hearts playing solo with an acoustic guitar and in equal measure, make venues soar with full backing bands, choirs and dancers. He is going to do that once again in his hometown, this time with a throwback to the early beginnings of his success– at Theatre Junction GRAND for the Simplicity is Grand Tour.

Location:
Wild Bill's Saloon

The youngest Aussie band to turn 10 years old, in 2011 THE CAT EMPIRE celebrated the 10th anniversary of their first show together. In an industry where few bands survive beyond the first album, if even making it that far, 10 years is a big achievement. Considering they are still all under the age of 30, and have consolidated themselves as a world-class touring act, it's outstanding. To celebrate this milestone, the band are undertaking a world tour, and North America is the final stop.
