Wintersleep
Wintersleep Within a decade of working on songs for their first album in a small apartment in Halifax, NS., Wintersleep has since brought their distinctive sound to audiences across many territories and continents and can now be referred to as ‘Juno Award winners’. In 2010, the band performed across North America, the UK, Ireland, continental Europe, and ended under the receptive lights of The Late Show with David Letterman in support of the New Inheritors album. Late in the summer of 2011, the group fleshed out new ideas with Scottish producer/friend Tony Doogan (Belle & Sebastian, Mogwai) and Dave Fridmann (Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev, MGMT) at the legendary Tarbox Road Studios in upstate New York. Secluded in the same woods that had already seen the creation of so much amazing work, the group committed themselves to long, focused recording sessions to finally produce Hello Hum released in 2012. The new release flows with glowing melodies backed by rhythms that can stand as the skeletons of songs or be studied for their subtle complexities. Guitars and keyboards weave together in fits of sonic weirdness that somehow shine with pop charm. Loel Campbell, Paul Murphy & Tim D’Eon have spent a decade collecting. Hello Hum starts a new chapter. Elliott Brood Since forming in 2002, Elliott BROOD has become a Canadian music institution. (The 2004 campus radio hit "Oh, Alberta!" remains a national treasure.) But after touring with acts like Wilco, Blue Rodeo, Corb Lund and the Sadies, playing festivals across North America, Europe and Australia and scoring the 2010 film Grown-Up Movie Star (for which they earned a Gemini nomination for Best Original Song), the band now also has a global presence. With Days Into Years they will bring their music, and of one of the greatest Canadian stories, to the world.
